Erasmus+ Project ‘Robotics – Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow’ - Madeira
Within the Erasmus+ project ‘Robotics - Yesterday, Today… and Tomorrow’, four MYP2 students – Karla, Mihaela, Sara M. and Sara Z. accompanied by teacher Barbara and teacher Linda travelled to Madeira, Portugal. The mobility took place from February 18th to 24th, 2024 in the town of Santana that enchanted us with its identity and its most authentic features, but also with its Theme Park. The students participated in the robotics workshops and promoted our school, culture and multiculturalism while getting together with the students from Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Italy, North Macedonia, Spain, Turkey and Portugal.
Madeira is a wonderfully distinctive island. The amazing views, diverse vegetation, dramatic coastline and mountainous scenery were unlike anywhere we have ever seen before. The island is very mountainous and some of the mountain tops sit high enough that they are above the clouds. We explored the island at its fullest! We visited Sao Jorge, Sao Vicente, Porto Moniz, Santa Cruz, Riberia Brava, Machico and admired the breath-taking view from Cabo Girao. In the capital city of Madeira, Funchal we walked through the Tropical garden, embarked on the cable car ride viewing the city from above, got to know the Madeira's treasures in vegetables, fruits, fish, meat, cheese, spices, herbs and flowers at the Open market, and visited the Cristiano Ronaldo Museum that displayed over a hundred individual and collective trophies of Cristiano Ronaldo. We were left with a warm appreciation for Madeira after having spent five days exploring its breathtaking sights. We got enchanted with the diverse natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, had authentic experiences, met local people and became completely immersed in the local culture.
We captured the best moments and presented this unforgetable journey in the Madeira Scrapbook.
