International Community Day 2023

International Community Day 2023

On 9th of November all students, teachers and parents celebrated together our traditional International Community Day.

It started with a welcoming speech and an African greeting dance performed by PYP1 students. The students and parents hosted beautifully decorated stalls with displays, food and music showcasing the richness of cultural differences amongst the school population. They baked national food, wore national costumes, taught us how to play some of their traditional games and showed us some of their sacred texts, brochures, maps and posters about their culture. We travelled the world by visiting the 18 countries represented in the main hall: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, China, Croatia, Germany, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland, Tűrkiye and USA. In Iran we tried to read the Persian letters, in Poland we learnt about famous Polish scientists and artists, in Croatia we played BINGO and as the prizes we got their homemade bracelets and bookmarks in Croatian flag’s colours. In India we tried on a traditional Sari dress and a Bindi.

It was very fun for everyone! We always look forward to taste delicious finger food from around the world, but the International Community Day is so much more than that. It encourages us to cherish our own national and cultural identity while celebrating the differences in our diverse and multicultural school community.

Thank You Note

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the families for putting so much effort and time into presenting their country and culture, and for their enthusiasm and support that made this event so enjoyable for all of us!
