Make Art Not War - Fundraiser for Children in Ukraine

Make Art Not War - Fundraiser for Children in Ukraine

Dear Parents and Students,

As the conflict in Ukraine unfolds before our eyes, we are wondering what we can do to help people caught up in it.

In close cooperation with UNICEF, our school will be organising next week a fundraiser for children in Ukraine. The ‘Make Art Not War’ humanitarian exhibition will be held in the school hall showcasing the peace paintings created by our MYP students in Visual Art class in response to the recent conflict in Ukraine and the suffering of the Ukrainian people.

This fundraiser has an educational dimension by putting the focus on solidarity, empathy, compassion and care for those who need our help. We are especially proud of our students headed by Umika, Hedie and Giulia who are the ones initiating this action.

UNICEF (https://www.unicef.org/croatia/) is making every effort to provide vital humanitarian supplies and to reach vulnerable children and families with essential services, including health, education, protection, water and sanitation. The best way we can help support UNICEF’s work with children in Ukraine is to donate money. A donation box will be available in the school hall from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. All of the money raised will be donated to the UNICEF’s Ukraine Emergency Fond. Your donation will support UNICEF’s ongoing response to the escalating situation in Ukraine by providing communities with:

  • safe water and sanitation supplies
  • urgent medical aid and healthcare services
  • child protection including psychosocial care
  • education supplies.

Donations can be also made online at https://www.unicef.hr/ukrajina/.

We are pleased to enclose herewith a gallery of students’ artwork created in Visual Art class under the guidance of the Visual Art teacher Ms. Ivana Devernay Cimić. Our students send powerful messages of peace, love and hope.
