Here you can get a glimpse of the results of the competitions that our MYP students took part in.

 

Međunarodni nagradni literarni, novinarski i likovni natječaj „Bogatstvo različitosti“

Osnovna škola Matije Gupca  iz Tavankuta, u Vojvodini, organizirala je međunarodni nagradni literarni, novinarski i likovni natječaj „Bogatstvo različitosti“ za učenike osnovnih škola kojim se želi potaknuti djecu na raspravu o temama suživota s drugima i drukčijima te razvijanje solidarnosti i povezivanje s vršnjacima iz različitih krajeva.

Tema je  ovogodišnjega natječaja bila Knjiga je moj najbolji prijatelj.

Tema je inspirirana 2021. godinom kao Godinom čitanja te omogućuje učenicima da prikažu svoja iskustva čitanja i druženja s najdražim književnim naslovima koji nas oblikuju kao osobe te često imaju funkciju prijatelja.

Rad Frana K. iz MYP-a3, Knjiga i ja – zajedničko odrastanje, pod mentorstvom prof. Mirjane Blažičko, Croatian LL teacher, osvojio je 3. mjesto, iza dva nagrađena rada iz Republike Srbije.

 

GubecX won a Trophy in the FLL Regional Championship

GubeX Enterprise, a team of the students from our school, participated in the First Lego League Regional Championship held in Ljubljana on May 14th, 2022.

At Ljubljana’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering they competed in FLL disciplines against teams from Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia. In an extremely fierce competition they won a trophy for their achievements and winning in one of the FLL category. The best team in the whole competition was the ‘Black & White’ form Celje, Slovenia.

Our students are already enthusiastic and full of ideas for next year while in the meantime they are preparing for the upcoming World Robotics Olympiad.

 

First Lego League Robotics Competition

GubeX Enterprise, a team of the students from our school, participated, for the fifth time in a row, in the national finals of the First Lego League robotics competition held on April 23rd at Zagreb's Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. The team with the MYP 2 student Mark M. was 3rd best in the tournament.

This year's theme of the competition was "Cargo Connect" that focused on transportation, exploring the technological advancements and global challenges that face humanity, and along with programming the robot the students had to solve a problem our world faces, similar to the community project. Our students were solving problems regarding drones and ways how to reduce the noise they produce. They collaborated with drone manufacturers and the Acoustic Lab at the Zagreb's Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. All the effort has paid off as the GubeX Enterprise was best in two categories – Robot Design and Core Values and won 3rd place in the tournament, which was enough to qualify to the regional finals in Slovenia that will be held on May 14th in Ljubljana. Congratulations!!!

We are especially proud of the mentor of the Lego Bears team that won second place in this competition, Dino R. - our former student and member of the GubeX Enterprise team (participated in the 2019 World Cup in Lebanon) who launched the entire robotics program in his high school and now as a third grade student successfully leads a robotics team.

 

National Competition in Computer Science

Zoe, a student from our MYP2 class, participated in the national competition in Computer Science held in Vodice from May 3rd to 6th, 2022. She competed against the best young programmers in the country and achieved 10th place. Congratulations, Zoe!!!

 

French DELF A1 exam

Traditionally during the month of March MYP3 students attending French as an optional subject take part in an international exam called DELF. This year Lina and Fran M. (MYP3) took part and achieved great results receiving the only qualifications recognized by the French Ministry of Education. We hope that French language will help them achieve professional and personal goals later in the future.

 

Computer Science

Zoe, a student from our MYP2 class, has participated in the regional competition in Computer Science held on March 11th. She has achieved 3rd place in the category 'Algorithms' and 11th in 'Logo' which means that she has qualified for the national finals. The competition will be held in May where Zoe will compete against the best young programmers in the country. 

 

Mathematics

Zoe (MYP2) passed the school Maths competition and qualified for the Maths Competition of the City of Zagreb that was held on March 24th.

 

Physics

Zoe (MYP2) passed the school Physics competition and qualified for the Physics Competition of the City of Zagreb that was held on March 9th.

 

Visual Art & Design Exhibition (LIK 2022)

Our school has traditionally the pleasure of hosting the Visual Art and Design Exhibition - Contest of the primary and secondary school students of the City of Zagreb. Our MYP students, under the guidance of the Visual Art teacher Ms. Ivana Devernay Cimić, participated with a great enthusiasm and created their artwork related to this year’s theme ‘Human body’. Student task was to recompose a black-and-white photo of some famous artwork on a theme of the human body, using collage art technique in selected complementary contrast. We would like to congratulate to our students – Lena (MYP1) and Iva (MYP2) whose work has been commended and selected for the county-level exhibition.

Kangaroo Mathematics Contest 

On March 17th the MYP students - Alexander, Ema, Iva, Nika, Mark M. and Fran K. along with the students of the national programme participated at the world-wide event "International Kangaroo Mathematics Contest" organised in our school. The contest's main purpose is to promote mathematical and logical thinking and engage students in mathematics through problem solving. The ranking list will be posted at the Croatian Mathematical Society Website in the end of April.

 

SPORTS COMPETITIONS

Great success at the Table Tennis Tournament

MG School Team, with our MYP3 students – Emanuel and Nikolas achieved great sports results. They won third prize in the Primary Schools Table Tennis Tournament of the City of Zagreb held on March 25th. Congratulations!!!

 

Great success at the Ski Championship

MG School Ski Team, with our MYP2 students – Frane and Vito achieved excellent sports results. They won third prize in the Primary Schools Ski Championship of the City of Zagreb held on February 9th on Sljeme. Congratulations!!!
