International Community Day 2022
International Community Day is an amazing day for all of us at MGIS! It celebrates the wide cultural diversity of our school and our student’s role as global citizens. It encourages us to appreciate our differences, share our similarities and treasure the multiculturalism of our school community. We are so glad to have International Community Day back this year, because it has been three years since it was last held.
The day featured a special exhibition at which the students and their parents hosted beautifully decorated stalls with displays, food and music. We travelled the world by visiting the 19 countries represented in the main hall: Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, China, Croatia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kosovo, Kuwait, North Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA and Zimbabwe. We also explored the products that were proudly presented by our School Co-Op Team.
International Community Day was a hit! We were delighted to take part in some engaging activities such as Zimbabwean tribal face painting, to see some students dressed in their national costumes and to ‘taste’ school diversity through languages, music and delicious food. We are looking forward to the next celebration hoping it will be held outdoors next year.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the families for putting so much effort and time into presenting their country and culture, and for their enthusiasm and support that made this event so enjoyable for all of us! Here is a peek at this year's celebration.
