Chinese New Year
Our school has marked the end of the 15-day celebration of the Chinese New Year which starts with the New moon on the first day of the first lunar month and ends on the Full moon 15 days later, also called Lantern Festival.
In cooperation with the Confucius Institute in Zagreb, the students, from the national and international programme, took part at various workshops where they learned about Chinese calligraphy, had their names written in Chinese, played Chinese chess, learned to use chopsticks, tried out Chinese national costumes and much more.
They also watched a popular feature cartoon film Nezha, featuring the popular Chinese mythological character of the same name. Finally, the students experienced an interactive performance of traditional Chinese musical instruments, songs, and dances. The highlight was the dragon dance of two dragons and the hot air balloon which took them all the way to China with the help of the virtual reality headset.
This has been an unforgettable experience for students of all ages and their teachers.
What a great start to the Year of the Rabbit!
