Vukovar - For Freedom and Peace
On the occasion of commemorating the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Vukovar and Škabrnja and the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Homeland War, which November 18 is celebrated as a non-working day and a national holiday, we were reminded of the tragic events in our homeland 32 years ago.
This year we decided that in this commemoration, the motif of the dove - the symbol of peace, dominates visually.
In the central lobby of the school, a large three-dimensional V as Vukovar calls for a feeling of gratitude, piety and pride towards the victims of that city, while relief white doves with a golden olive branch in their beaks bring peace to the world. The entire exhibition space exudes elegance, moderation, harmony, simplicity and black and white contrast.
The school's other exhibition spaces are dominated by colorful artworks and posters by students with motifs of the letter V, doves and water towers, as well as poems and messages by students dedicated to the city of Vukovar.
We were reminded of how important it is to encourage tolerance, non-violence and respect for each other despite all our differences.
