Wind Cloud in a Jar: A PYP2 Science Experiment

Wind Cloud in a Jar: A PYP2 Science Experiment

In our PYP2 class, we conducted a colorful and fun experiment called "Wind Cloud in a Jar." This hands-on activity helped students learn about clouds, rain, and how the wind moves them.

Steps:

Creating the Sky:
We filled the jar three-quarters full with water. This represented the air in our atmosphere.

Making the Cloud:
A layer of shaving foam was carefully sprayed on top of the water to create our "cloud." Students were amazed to see how fluffy and realistic it looked!

Adding Rain and Wind:
Using droppers, students added drops of food coloring onto the shaving foam. Gradually, the food coloring seeped through the foam, mimicking raindrops falling from a cloud. To simulate wind, we gently blew across the jar, causing the "cloud" to shift and move.

Observations and Learning:

The students noticed how the "rain" formed when the cloud became saturated and could no longer hold the food coloring. They also observed how wind can push clouds in different directions.

This experiment brought science to life in a creative way, encouraging curiosity and engagement. It was a wonderful opportunity to explore natural processes while having fun with colorful and hands-on learning!
