MYP2 and MYP3 Field Trip to the Island of Pag

MYP2 and MYP3 Field Trip to the Island of Pag

From May 14th to 16th, 2025, MYP2 and MYP3 students went on a three-day field trip to the Island of Pag, where we explored the island’s rich cultural, historical, and natural heritage.

Our first stop was the village of Kolan, where we visited the Gligora Cheese Factory. There, we toured the production facility and ageing room while learning the fascinating story behind Pag cheese. In the tasting room, we sampled a variety of Gligora cheeses while enjoying a breathtaking view of the Kolan field.

We then travelled to the northern tip of the island to explore the Olive Gardens of Lun, home to more than 80 000 olive trees - some as old as 2 000 years. After this inspiring walk through nature and history, we visited the Škunca Family Farm, where we learned about eco-friendly cultivation and the processing of medicinal and aromatic herbs.

The second day was dedicated to sports activities. We cycled through Novalja, taking in the stunning island landscapes that made us truly feel the spirit of Pag. Later, we went kayaking, which was both refreshing and exciting.

On the third day, we visited Juraj Dalmatinac Primary School in the town of Pag. We received a warm welcome from the principal, Ms. Željka Zubović, and enjoyed a cultural exchange with students from the School Cooperative Ročelica. They demonstrated the intricate needle-making of Pag lace and taught us how to perform the traditional "Pag Wheel Dance" and "Pag Tanac." It was a heartwarming gathering, and we look forward to welcoming them to Zagreb in the future.

We concluded our trip with a sightseeing tour of the town of Pag, visiting landmarks such as the Skrivanat Tower, the Gallery of Pag Lace, and the Salt Exhibition. There, we learned about the island’s historic salt production and even got to taste the Pag baškotin - a sweet, toasted biscuit made from a 300-year-old convent recipe preserved by Benedictine nuns.

This field trip was a memorable blend of learning, adventure, and cultural appreciation. It deepened our understanding of Croatian heritage and brought us closer together as a group.

The Pag Field Trip Scrapbook offers a glimpse into the most memorable moments of the trip, captured through photos.
