Thank You, God, for the blessing of the food You give us

Thank You, God, for the blessing of the food You give us

On October 23, 2025, the teachers of Catholic and Islamic religious education — Anita, Branka, and Melisa — organized a workshop for their students.

The goal of such workshops is to awaken in children a sense of love, awareness, and gratitude for the blessings of sustenance that God provides us, and to help us, through unity and the diversity of faiths, get to know and connect with one another better.

We began the workshop with prayers: teachers Branka and Anita led a prayer for their students, while teacher Melisa did the same for hers. In the end, we all joined together to give thanks for the abundance and blessings that God provides us.

Teacher Melisa introduced all the students to the purpose of the joint class by saying:
“Dear children, God has given us many blessings, and one of them is the abundance of food we have every day. When we sit down at the table, we should remember that not everyone is that fortunate, so let us be grateful and avoid wasting food.

Food is not only for our bodies, but also an opportunity to show kindness and togetherness. Whether we are Christians or Muslims, we all believe in God, who teaches us to share, to help those in need, and to be thankful for what we have. When we share food, we also share love — and then God especially loves our hearts.”

The workshop and shared gathering concluded with lovely comments from our children, who said that this was their favorite class ever.
