“Tell Me with Art – Reci mi to likovnim jezikom” International Art Competition

“Tell Me with Art – Reci mi to likovnim jezikom” International Art Competition

In December 2025, our MYP2 students, Adél Nerpel and Nidhi Elise Booth, participated in the international art competition titled Tell Me with Art – Reci mi to likovnim jezikom, held under the theme My Magical Homeland.

Adél depicted the legend of the fairies in Rastoke, while Nidhi illustrated the legend of the fairies who built the Pula Amphitheater. Both students presented their motifs with exceptional precision and artistic quality, using the drypoint technique on packaging foil.

Out of over 300 submissions from 10 different countries, our students ranked among the top 50, sharing 8th and 9th place with a few other competitors (35th and 45th in the overall ranking).

The MYP 2 students who also participated in this art competition, and whose work we wish to commend despite not placing in the top 50, are: Klara Bašić, Xingnuo Chen, Stanislaw Jerzy Polański and Ziyan Wang.

On Friday, December 12, 2025, the library of Sesvetska Sela Primary School hosted the ceremonial opening of the exhibition, featuring the fifty highest-rated artworks submitted to the competition. The exhibited works reflect the exceptional creativity, imagination, and emotional expression of the young artists. Through visual elements, the students portrayed their homeland as they see it through the lens of imagination — as a space full of magic, identity, and personal experience.

During the exhibition opening, the competition’s expert jury convened and selected the winner, as well as the second and third prize recipients, from among the ten highest-rated artworks. The selection was based on pre-defined criteria, considering originality, artistic quality, creativity, and expressiveness.

The opening ceremony took place in a festive and inspiring atmosphere, bringing together students, mentors, colleagues, and visitors to celebrate creativity, diversity, and artistic dialogue among young artists.

We are extremely proud of our students’ achievements and extend our heartfelt thanks to their mentor, visual arts teacher Ivana Devernay Cimić, for her invaluable contribution to the successful realization of this international project.
