Visit to the Žar Ptica City Theatre – Šuma Striborova
On January 19th, MYP0 and MYP1 students visited the Žar Ptica City Theatre to watch the play Šuma Striborova.
The story began with four characters called Domaći and Stribor, the ruler of the enchanted forest. He is a mythical being who represents the spirit of the forest and its magical powers. Soon after, a young man entered Stribor’s forest without knowing it was a magical place. While exploring, he met a beautiful young woman who was actually a magical snake disguised as a human.
The man brought her home. After she left, the young man’s mother warned him that the woman was not human, but he didn’t believe her and chose to trust the snake instead. The snake girl continued giving the mother harsh orders and treating her rudely. This happened several times with different tasks. Eventually, the mother found a way to prove the truth to her son. When he realized the woman was truly a snake, he left her, and he and his mother lived happily ever after.
The original story was written by Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić.
The costumes in the play were colourful, creative, and matched the theme perfectly. There were also several songs that we students enjoyed very much. Special effects added to the magical atmosphere and made the play even more exciting to watch.
