Happy 85th Birthday to Our School!
In honor of our school’s 85th birthday, all PYP classes took part in creative and engaging activities to show their appreciation for our wonderful school.
PYP 0 celebrated the school’s birthday by making a traditional apple strudel. As part of their Homesteading unit, students practiced important life skills such as communication and self management. The final result was a delicious apple strudel that everyone enjoyed. In addition, they painted adorable portraits of Matija Gubec using watercolor, black marker, cardboard, and yarn. Who could resist Matija Gubec’s mustache?! Hard-working PYP 0 students also created their own Gubec mustaches made from cardboard and yarn.
The PYP 1 class showcased their creativity through fantastic artwork, featuring a portrait of Matija Gubec and decorative letters displaying his name.
PYP 2 students, with the support of their teachers, created a short film about Matija Gubec and the Peasants’ Revolt (Seljačka buna), a historic battle that took place in 1573 around Stubica in the Croatian Zagorje region. Filmmaking was both fun and challenging! Students filmed scenes around the school, including the front and back yards (C Entrance and Main Entrance), as well as the school hallways.
PYP 3 students demonstrated impressive acting skills by reenacting the Peasants’ Revolt in their classroom.
Last but not least, the PYP 4 class showed their talents by creating Matija Gubec masks using the paper mâché technique. In addition, students used musical instruments to compose a catchy jingle in celebration of the school’s birthday.
