Our MYP students, accompanied by their teachers, enjoyed an autumn field trip to Jelačić Vrelo Resort near Topusko, where we took part in a traditional chestnut-picking activity. We were warmly welcomed by the Head of the Topusko Tourist Board and local guides from the Velika Vranovina Heritage Club.

Guided by our local hosts, we explored the surrounding area and learned more about the local environment and the tradition of gathering chestnuts. We enthusiastically collected chestnuts and enjoyed a hands-on experience in nature.

The highlight of the day came after the picking, when the freshly gathered chestnuts were roasted and shared. We tasted our harvest together and enjoyed this delicious autumn treat.

The field trip was a wonderful opportunity for our students to spend time in nature, experience a local seasonal tradition and enjoy the flavours of autumn.
