Zagreb City Tour 2020

Zagreb City Tour 2020

On October 8th we had an educational walking tour through the history of Zagreb, introducing the most important cultural and historical monuments of the Zagreb Lenuci Horseshoe - the most famous urban symbol of Zagreb.

The squares forming the horseshoe are Zrinjevac, Strossmayer Square, King Tomislav Square, Starčević Square, Botanical Garden, Marulić Square, Mažuranić Square and Republic of Croatia Square. We learnt that these squares are home to the headquarters of many institutions and museums: Archaeological Museum, Art Pavilion, Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts., Croatian State Archives, Ethnographic Museum, Museum of Arts and Crafts, Croatian National Theatre and Academy of Music.

We visited the Botanical Garden and we were amazed by the fact that more than 5000 plant species live in the heart of Zagreb. Then we visited the Chocolate Museum, where we learnt that chocolate had a long and interesting history that accompanied its delicious taste. We didn't have any problem with that as we are all chocolate lovers! Our ticket was a rectangular box with a spoon, a cocoa bean and samples of chocolate that we had to try throughout the museum while we were taught about history, geography and chocolate's cultural significance.

The tour was a perfect mix of exploring, learning and relaxing and the perfect sunny day made the tour even more enjoyable.
