Kendo in Matija Gubec International School
It was our great pleasure to welcome in our school members of the Agatso Kendo Club during the International Community Week.
They prepared an amazing presentation of this traditional Japanese martial art which descended from swordsmanship and uses bamboo swords and protective armour.
Students of all PYP classes were able to witness this ancient and exciting art of combat.
During the presentation of this martial art we found out that it is practiced by both men and women, as well as children, and although physicaly engaging and at times very loud it is perfectly safe to practice.
We thank Luca from PYP 4, his parents and the members of the Agatso Kendo Club for bringing this dash of Japanese culture to our school and in that way enriching our knowledge of other cultures and traditions.
