National Handicrafts
Within the Design and Visual Art interdisciplinary unit 'Applied Art, Design and Media' the MYP0 students have a summative task to design and make a unique national handicraft item to promote the heritage and tradition of their country of origin.
The real purpose of our inquiry is to prove that a culture identity can often be defined through its handicraft items. Our personal expression in applied art, design and media takes into perspective a cultural and traditional significance of the product. The students' role is to design a handicraft item that will help our school community to understand an aspect of their culture. In the process we are developing an appreciation of the heritage and variety of other cultures through other student’s work.
The gallery show some ideas that the students propose in the Developing Ideas Stage. After proposing more designs they evaluated them against the design specification and selected the final design to make.
We are about to start with the creating process and as soon as we are done we will share the students’ handicraft items here.
